HERD
Herd was a genre defying musical mash up of epic proportions for Kirklees Year of Music 2023: a collaboration between artists, musicians, composers, sound artists, hundreds of schoolchildren and community members. Produced by Artichoke, devised & directed by Orlando Gough. I was responsible for designing & making the 23 sheep sculptures that roamed through Kirklees during the week of the event in July 2023. With a team of 20 other artists, makers and students we made the sheep in 3 months in a beautiful old railway warehouse next to Huddersfield train station. Each sheep contained a bespoke sound system & soundtrack. the sheeps names were inspired by the Yan Tan Tethera counting system/nursery rhyme.
