The Berkshire Giant was a collaborative project between Macnas and Newbury Corn Exchange – a week of performances, installations,processions, music and more culminating in a promenade finale in Newbury Town Square. Dave was the lead artist and designer on the project, which was inspired by stories of the Aldworth Giants, in particular John Everafraid – who allegedly broke a pact with the Devil and hid himself in the wall of the local church to escape devilish retribution. Our story centred around the idea that 600 years later John Everafraid had been woken up by building work and the last of the giants was loose in West Berkshire…
