Gently tweaking the knobs of reality - trans-muting found, used, discarded & recycled materials into strange and unexpected new forms.

Trans-mutation features the work of Dave Young; Artist/maker, pixel bodger, apprentice anvil wrestler, earworm wrangler, garden-shed alchemist and occasional moon-calf.

Dave has worked as a sculptor, animator, junk alchemist, blacksmith, welder, maker, rigger, cook and performer. Amongst other things he has created giant blue spotted concrete dragons, solar powered Edwardian Spaceships, wind powered giants, radio controlled twittering machines, fire-sculptures, flotsam & jetsam puppets, air powered bugs on rickshaws, cycle powered sound sculptures and Leviathan Horns.

Dave often works collaboratively with many other artists,musicians,sound sculptors,pyrotechnicians,performers,vagabonds and dreamers.

With Tim Hill he co-organises the sound/performance group Leviathan Whispers, and with Tim and Pyro-wizard/maker Martin West steers the processional/performance/carnival collective Rag & Bone.

Since December 08 he has formed an ongoing working relationship with Macnas in Galway, Ireland, working with Artistic Director Noeline Kavanagh and her team to develop new styles of work for street theatre, procession and outdoor performance.

He also has a fondness/obsession with using samples of everyday sounds and things that make strange noises to create baroque lumps of mutant audio. In the dim & distant past he was one half of DJ Stilton.
